Mumbai Master Carpentry
Know exactly when you pay — and what you should already have in writing
You should know the payment schedule before you approve a carpentry job, not when someone asks for the next transfer. On most home jobs, Mumbai Master Carpentry bills in three stages: 40% advance, 40% when the work reaches site, and 20% at handover. That is the same schedule on our process page. This page says what each stage buys you, what you should already be holding in writing, and how the last payment sits with the 1-year workmanship warranty.
Large commercial jobs can use a different schedule. That difference is written on that quote. A small repair is quoted as its own scope. We do not force a three-stage fabrication schedule onto a hinge.
The three stages
| Stage | When you pay | What you are paying for |
|---|---|---|
| 40% advance | After you approve the itemised quote, before we cut | The job is confirmed, the workshop slot is held, and we can order the board and hardware named on the quote |
| 40% on delivery | When the made work reaches your building | Carcasses and shutters are at site. You are paying for work that has arrived, not for a drawing that is still being discussed |
| 20% at handover | After installation and the walkthrough | The job closes against the quote. The workmanship year starts here |

Do not pay the advance until you can see these
- An itemised scope: carcass, shutters, hardware, installation, and exclusions
- A timeline. On our other pages the usual ranges are about 12–18 days for a modular kitchen and about 7–10 days for one wardrobe, after design approval — your quote carries the dates for your job
- These three stages, unless your quote is a commercial job that says otherwise in writing
The advance confirms a scope. It does not replace one. A quote that wants most of the money before the materials are named is one of the red flags worth noticing with anyone. The questions to put next to a kitchen figure are the quote checklist.
What “reaches site” means
The fabricated pieces have been delivered to your building. It does not mean a sample was ordered, and it does not mean the design is still open. If a lift slot or a vendor form delays delivery, we say so. We do not relabel a delay as a new percentage.
Finish and hardware should be decided before we cut. A change after cutting is a new quote line. It is not folded silently into the next payment.
Handover is when the warranty starts
The last 20% is due at handover, after we walk shutters, gaps, and hardware with you. A door that binds because of our fit is a snag on that visit. We agree how an open snag from our work is closed before we call the job handed over. Work that was never on the quote is not added that day as a surprise.
The 1-year workmanship period runs from handover. It covers joints, fit, and finish from our carpentry. It is not a lifetime warranty. Hardware mechanisms follow the maker’s terms where those apply. A plumbing leak is outside that cover. Nothing on this page changes that warranty.
GST, and the number on the quote
If you need a GST invoice, say so when we quote. Invoicing matches how we already bill other Mumbai jobs. The quote you approve is the document with the figures. Indicative starting bands — not your invoice — remain kitchen from ₹85,000, wardrobe from ₹22,000, furniture from ₹18,000 per piece. See the kitchen cost guide and the wardrobe cost guide.

FAQ
On most home jobs: 40% advance after you approve the quote and before we cut, 40% when the work reaches site, and 20% at handover after the walkthrough. Large commercial jobs can differ, and that difference is written on that quote. Ask for it in writing before you pay.
No. You pay the advance after the quote names the materials, the timeline, and these stages. We do not start cutting before that advance on a normal home fabrication job, and we do not ask for the advance in exchange for a verbal price.
The made work has reached your building. Installation and the snag walk come after that. You are not paying the middle stage for a design conversation.
At handover, when the last stage is due. The cover is 1 year of workmanship on the carpentry we built. It is not a lifetime warranty. Hardware follows the maker’s terms where those apply.
Decide finish and hardware before fabrication. A change after cutting is a new quote line. It is not a free revision and it is not absorbed into the next milestone.
Not necessarily. A hinge or a small polish is quoted as its own scope. The 40/40/20 schedule is for most home fabrication jobs — kitchens, wardrobes, and furniture pieces.
