What moves the quote in a Mumbai home
- The opening. Width, height, and how far the frame is out of plumb. Older buildings need packing. We measure it; we do not force a square door into a skewed rebate and call it fitted.
- Bathroom and monsoon moisture. A bathroom door and a dry bedroom door are not the same board. Tell us if the foot of the door sits in splash or in a wet bathroom that stays shut.
- Floor build-up. New tile thickness changes the gap under the door. Measure after flooring if you can; if not, we allow for it and write the assumption on the quote.
- Hardware. Hinges, a lock, and a door closer are separate from the leaf. Ask which are included.
- Access. A long frame and a small service lift need a plan. Tell us the society rule at the visit.
Repair or replace
A door that has dropped on loose hinges, or a frame foot that is soft in one corner, can sometimes be saved. A leaf that has swollen and stayed swollen, or a frame that has lost its shape after repeated wetting, usually should be replaced. We say which one it is on site. We do not take a repair advance for a door that will not close in July.

Specify the room. A bathroom wants a board and an edge detail that can live with splash and a shut, steamy room. We write that on the quote. A dry-room laminate is not an automatic bathroom door.
We are carpenters. Widening a brick opening, lintels, and waterproofing stay with the trade licensed for them. We measure the opening you have, or the opening your civil contractor finishes.
