What moves the quote
- Width, height, and depth. Every extra foot of carcass is more board and more edge. A 4 ft console and an 8 ft run are different cutting lists.
- Wall-standing vs floating. A unit on the floor can be packed and scribed. A floating unit has to look level, and an out-of-plumb wall in Fort, Dadar, or Bandra shows as a gap. That packing is a labour line.
- Storage. Open niches cost less than shutters, drawers, and soft-close channels. A device you open every day should not sit behind a pretty door.
- The wall itself. Brick, block, or a dry partition changes the fixing. A partition that cannot take a floating load becomes a floor-standing unit. We say so at the visit.
- Cables and heat. A path for the decoder, router, and console is labour. A sealed box around a warm device is a poor specification. We do not rewire the room.
Mumbai humidity
Coastal air and a long monsoon reach a living-room unit the same way they reach a wardrobe: at an open edge, a top panel under an AC, or a back that sits on damp plaster. Ask for carcass grade and edge banding on the quote, especially on an external wall. Condensate from an indoor AC should not land on the top panel — that is a services fault, and we will point it out rather than build into the drip. Day-to-day care is on monsoon furniture care. What to compare on two quotes
