Kids room furniture for Mumbai flats, built to grow with the child
Upload a photoGet a ballpark priceBook a site visitA kids room in Mumbai is often the smallest bedroom in the flat, and it has to hold a bed, a study table, clothes, books and toys. Mumbai Master Carpentry designs and builds kids room furniture measured to that room: beds with storage below, a study table at the right height, a wardrobe with a loft, and safety details that matter when children climb and pull on everything.
We have not shown stock photos of kids rooms here, because a picture rarely matches your room. Ask on WhatsApp for photos of recent work.
What usually goes into the room
- A bed with storage. A storage bed with drawers or a lift-up box, or a bunk or trundle bed when two children share
- A study table. Wall-mounted or with a bookshelf above, sized for schoolwork and a laptop; see our study table page
- A wardrobe. Hinged or sliding, with a loft above for seasonal clothes and suitcases
- Books and toys. Low open shelves the child can reach, and closed storage so the room can be tidied quickly
What we check on the site visit
We measure the room, the clear ceiling height and the fan position, and we note the door swing, the window and the switch points. We ask the age of each child and whether the room is shared now or will be later. That decides whether a bunk is sensible, how high the study table should sit, and how much hanging space versus shelf space the wardrobe needs.
Safety details we build in
Children climb shelves and swing on doors, so tall units such as wardrobes and bookshelves are anchored to the wall. Exposed corners and edges are rounded. Hinges and drawer channels are soft-close, which reduces pinched fingers. An upper bunk gets a full guard rail and a fixed ladder or stair, and we keep glass out of easy reach. If the ceiling is too low for a safe bunk, we will say so and suggest a trundle or raised bed instead.

Planning for the next ten years
A theme that delights a five-year-old can feel babyish at twelve. We usually suggest a neutral carcass with colour on the shutters or handles, because a laminate shutter can be changed later without rebuilding the unit. Adjustable shelves, a study table sized for a teenager, and a bed that takes a standard mattress all keep the room useful as the child grows.
Material and finish
Plywood with a laminate finish is the usual choice for kids rooms, because it wipes clean and handles knocks better than a painted finish. In Mumbai humidity, the grade of plywood matters; our MDF vs plywood guide explains why, and the grades we build with are on materials we use. The quote lists the board, the laminate and the hardware for each piece.
What the price depends on
Kids room furniture is priced piece by piece as custom furniture. Simpler pieces start from an indicative ₹18,000. That is a starting band, not a city average and not a full room. Read custom furniture cost in Mumbai and the wardrobe cost guide for how we build up a quote.
- Number of pieces. A single study table is a different job from a bed, study, wardrobe and loft together
- Bed type. Bunk, trundle and hydraulic storage beds use more material and hardware than a box bed
- Wardrobe size. Width, height and whether a loft is included
- Finish and hardware. Laminate choice, handles, soft-close fittings and drawer channels
How the job runs from visit to install is on the process page, and workmanship is covered by our 1-year warranty. If the kids room is part of a bigger job, such as a 3BHK wardrobe package, each piece is still its own line on the quote.

FAQ
Usually, yes. In a typical Mumbai kids room we combine pieces: a storage or bunk bed against one wall, a wall-mounted study table, and a wardrobe with a loft above it. We measure the room first, including door swing and window position, and then draw what actually fits.
Only if there is enough height. We check the clear ceiling height, the fan position and the window before suggesting a bunk. The upper bunk gets a full guard rail and a fixed ladder or stair. If the room cannot take it safely, we suggest a trundle bed or a raised bed with storage instead.
We round the exposed corners and edges, anchor tall units such as wardrobes and bookshelves to the wall, use soft-close hinges and drawer channels so fingers are less likely to be pinched, and avoid glass in reach of small children. Tell us the child's age so we can draw for it.
That is the main reason to go custom. We suggest neutral carcass colours with replaceable shutters or handles, adjustable shelves, and a study table sized for a teenager with a lower chair or footrest for now. Changing a laminate shutter later costs far less than replacing a whole unit.
No. ₹18,000 is our indicative starting band for a simpler custom furniture piece, not a city average and not a full room. A bed, study and wardrobe together is a measured quote after a site visit. Call or WhatsApp +91 9987911330.
