Many Mumbai kitchens and wardrobes look tired long before the boxes behind them fail. Faded laminate, chipped edges, sagging doors and dated colours are usually shutter problems. If the carcass is straight and dry, Mumbai Master Carpentry can make new shutters to your existing openings, fit new hinges, and leave the countertop, plumbing and appliances where they are.

There is no fixed per-shutter rate here. Shutter count, size, finish, edge detail and hardware change the price, so we quote line by line after measuring. Photos on WhatsApp help us say quickly whether the carcass is worth keeping.
When new shutters make sense
- Boxes are level and square, and doors close evenly once hinges are adjusted
- Board is dry and firm, with no soft or swollen panels near the sink or hob
- The layout still works for you: you want a new look, not a new kitchen plan
- Countertop, sink and appliances are staying, so a full rip-out would waste sound work
- Wardrobe interiors (shelves, rails, drawers) are fine and only the fronts are worn
When it does not make sense
- Sink or hob boxes that are swollen, smell damp, or no longer hold screws
- Carcass made of board that has stayed soft after monsoon wetting
- You want to change the layout, add a tall unit, or move the sink
- An ongoing leak behind the cabinets that has not been fixed yet

What a shutter replacement quote should list
- Number of shutters and drawer fronts, with sizes from on-site measurement
- Core board (for example plywood or HDHMR) and the face finish — laminate vs acrylic, veneer vs laminate
- Edge banding on all four edges, not just the visible ones
- Hinges and channels: brand, soft-close or not, and how many — see kitchen and wardrobe hardware
- Handles or profile handles, and whether old holes need filling
- Removal of old shutters and site cleaning

Yes, when the carcass is sound: boxes are straight, dry, and still hold screws. New shutters are made to measured openings and hung on new hinges. If boxes around the sink or hob are swollen or soft, we say so and quote those boxes separately.
Usually, because the carcass, countertop, plumbing and appliances stay. How much cheaper depends on shutter count, finish and hardware. We do not publish a fixed rate; you get a line-item scope after we measure.

Generally yes. New shutters on worn hinges sag again, and the old screw holes are often stretched. We quote soft-close hinges and, if needed, new drawer channels as separate lines so you can decide.
Wardrobe shutters can be replaced the same way. Converting hinged to sliding needs enough depth, a straight top and bottom, and new tracks, so we check on site before promising it.
Measuring is one visit. Shutters are made in the workshop and fitted in a short site visit, so the kitchen stays usable for most of the job. We give a date after the finish and hardware are confirmed.
